Aaron grew up in Virginia, and we both spent most of our college careers in this beautiful state. That allowed us to find some pretty neat spots for day trips. Virginia is pretty big, so depending on where you are, some of these may need to be multi-day trips.
1. Hit the Blue Ridge Parkway
Spanning 469 miles, crossing through Virginia and North Carolina, a visit to this scenic byway is a must for any Virginia resident.

2. Swimming at Panther Falls
This swimming hole is a local favorite. Waterfalls, tunnels and wildlife add to the appeal. Arrive early if you want a good spot on the rock!

3. Explore Richmond
Known for biking and walking trails, Richmond is great for outdoor lovers. Plenty of local restaurants and bars are always a short drive away, making it ideal for a day/weekend trip.

4. Carvins Cove
Carvins Cove Natural Reserve is the second largest municiple-run park in the United States! It boasts mountain biking/walking trails, as well as a large reservoir.

5. Smith Mountain Lake
The lake is legendary in central Virginia. Swimming, boating and beach activities are all common here.
