Any trip can turn into a multi-day outing, but we have found these destinations to be especially suited for 2+ days of exploring.
1. Grayson Highlands State Park
The sprawling park includes access to the highest peak in the state, beautiful scenery in all seasons, and great wildlife. Be prepared for some wind, and an encounter with the wild ponies!
2. Canoeing/Camping along the Rappahannock River
This river runs through a lot of North/North-East Virginia, resulting in long stretches of isolation in nature. There are plenty of access points, and places to camp along the way.
3. Cole Mountain
Cole Mountain can be observed in one day, but it is easy to turn the trip into a camping expedition. Some of the best views in Central Virginia are found here, so we recommend taking your time!
